Due to future positive changes in the GBCVC, the non-profit will no longer be accepting membership applications. Thank you to all those whom are already members! The Green Building Council of Ventura County (GBCVC) looks to the New Year with much excitement and hope. As mentioned at the October general meeting, the GBCVC has been working with the forming local California Central Coast Chapter (C4) of the U.S. Green Building Council.

C4 is the local organizing group of the nation wide organization the U.S. Green Building Council. It is comprised of people from the San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties. The GBCVC has been actively working with C4 to create a dynamic, supportive and locally orientated singular green building organization with representation in and from all three counties. To avoid duplication of efforts, the GBCVC is in the process of evolving into Ventura County leg of the C4 Chapter. Keep checking the GBCVC website for details (www.gbcvc.org). Whatever the name, the rhythm of the Ventura County group will remain the same. There will still be monthly meetings, special events and a local presence working with governments and citizens.

Get involved now! Those of you whom have ever wanted to become involved in a green building organization, this transitionary period is the time to do it. There are committees within C4 that need people and you won’t meet a more energetic, fun group of people. Go to the C4 website (http://usgbcc4.org/) to find out more about getting involved and events that are coming up.
